History
In 1996 Amani started with three women in Nairobi. It has grown to 50 women from 18 different ethnic groups all across central and eastern Africa. Most of these women are marginalized and must carry the burdens of poverty, corruption and war.
To promote the philosophy of Amani ya Juu support is given to other women's groups in the Kakuma Refugee Camp (nothern Kenya), Korogocho (outskirts of Nairobi), Kigeme (Rwanda) and Kayanza (Burundi).
